The Google Adsense Affiliate Program
I've
heard there were a few people that really 'knew their stuff' in
this area, and was also told there's no way under the sun they'd
ever share their secrets. I've asked around for a recommendation...
no leads whatsoever. So I waited - and watched. And today - thanks
to Harvey Segal - I found what I was looking for!
What
is it? It's a Google
Adsense Guide. Its all about maximizing your
earnings with Google Adsense: how to position your Ads, which styles
to use, which pages to put them on... and how to display Ads with
higher commission, even! To quote the author, William:
"The amount you earn per click on an ad varies enormously but
you can control how valuable these clicks are if you know the secrets
(Chapter 22, Chapter 30)". Also: "Learn how to
calculate Google's payout ratio (they won't tell you, but
you can find out.)" You also get membership to the AdSense
Insider Group - so if this something you've been looking for, too...
I'll see you there!
This
is stuff you wont find anywhere else. Check
it out!
Google's
AdSense ...
Recently,
Google released what can already be described as the
"revolutionary" AdSense program....
Basically,
you place Google AdWords on your site(s). For every ad clicked,
you receive money. AdSense ads are just like the AdWords ads you
see on the right-hand side of a Google search results page... except
they are on YOUR site.
Find
out which ads Google will place on your site!
Simply enter your URL below
and click submit:
|
Google
uses its advanced, proprietary technology and algorithms to determine
the content of each of your site's Web pages. It then delivers ads
that are contextually relevant to your audience. (As you'll soon
see, the content on the PAGE is more relevant to AdSense than the
overall SITE.)
Consider
this:
-
no chasing of advertisers to place ads on your Web site
-
reduced workload -- only need to manage the cream of affiliate
programs
-
ongoing advertisers that will never run dry
-
the "Google" name could very well enhance your credibility.
You've been accepted as a Google partner! The first time ads
may actually ADD credibility!
AdSense
has the Net "buzzing" with excitement as Webmasters and
marketers the world over are attaining click through and CPM rates
not seen since dot-com "boom" times.
Allan
Gardyne, not surprisingly, was one of the first to write about his
experiences with AdSense (as implemented on AssociatePrograms.com,
and on his assistant Rupert's SBI! site, DJ-Tips-And-Tricks.com).
Although the Google agreement prohibits Webmasters from providing
specifics of their program, Allan is pretty excited with the results
so far. If
you missed his article, here's the link...
And
while Allan was one of the first, the "guru lines" have
been buzzing and the verdict is unanimous... Google's AdSense is
very likely the most exciting thing EVER to happen to "theme-based
content sites."

Even
if you aren't entirely sure the AdSense program is right for your
business, Google has made it easy, and so tempting, to test. From
the feedback we've gathered...
-
Click through rates are many times the industry average
-- some Webmasters report rates ranging as high as 10-20%.
-
It appears (at this point) that Google is paying a generous percentage
of a keyword's value, enough to beat the income generated by many
affiliate programs. Translation? Higher earnings for you.

Hopefully,
after reading the article above, your mind is already "buzzing"
with ideas, excitement building as the extent of the opportunities
became more and more apparent.
This
is profound, important ground that Google is breaking.
No, it's not completely new. It's just being done right.
However
you look at it...
Site
Build It! and AdSense are a marriage made in heaven (they fit
together like a hand in an e-glove, actually!). The two programs
are philosophically identical. Sites built according to the SBI!
Action Guide are much more likely to conform to Google's guidelines
for acceptance into the program. That's an unprecedented opportunity
to monetize a Web presence. We've already received reports of Webmasters
earning anywhere between $30-$100 per DAY from AdSense -- without
hurting other income streams.

Editors Note: Download the SBI! Action Guide here:

An
extra $900-$3000 a month? Multiply that by 12, and well, you do
the math! Now multiply that by two or more SBI! sites. Astounding
potential!
What's
the beauty of an SBI! site? You build *free* traffic. Since your
foundation is solid, traffic keeps building even when you move on
to focus on your next site. And the free traffic keeps on converting
into dollars via Google AdSense!
Best
of all, SBI! makes it all very, very attainable.
SiteBuilding
of course, is a snap with SBI!.
Even if you know ZERO HTML, thousands of SBIers still succeed like
crazy...

Google AdWords & Google AdSense
The
launch of Google AdSense has certainly had the webmasters in a buzz
lately. How does Google AdSense affect Google AdWords users? What
type of ads will be displayed on my site through Google AdSense?
How much can I expect to earn using Google AdSense? What exactly
*is* all of this about, and how does it benefit *me*?
Below
you'll find some easy-to-implement practical tips to make the most
of both Google AdWords and Google AdSense. Whether you're an affiliate
marketer, advertiser, webmaster or aspiring online entrepreneur
- these are things you *need* to know ;) Listen in to a few seasoned
marketers and newbies alike:
-->
Google AdSense
What
exactly is it? The next time you visit Google.com to perform a search,
notice the text ads within the small boxes along the right side
of your screen (Sponsored Links). These are AdWords. (More about
that in a minute!) Google AdSense is a new program that allows you
to display these Google AdWords on *your* website, and receive commission
for every click through.

````````````````````
I applied
for the Google
AdSense program, was approved within minutes, and logged in
to create a customized color scheme for the ads... got the code
and placed them on my website immediately. Its *that* easy. While
I am not at liberty to give you statistics or amounts (Google policy),
I *can* tell you that this is a VERY profitable affiliate program!
If
you want to see the ads that will display on your website *before*
you commit to adding them to your pages, no problem! Try this FREE
easy-to-use tool to query Google AdSense for each site that you
maintain (top of page).
You'll
find that the ads are extremely targeted as they are based on the
content of the page where they are listed. The result? A higher
than normal click-through rate ;)
Since
AdWords is a pay-per-click program, ads within the AdSense program
will vary in their commission amount. Obviously the most competitive
keywords will pay a higher commission, as your commission rate depends
on the amount paid per click by the AdWords merchant.
If
a lightbulb didn’t just go off in your head... let me spell
it out for you: Developing a content-rich website optimized for
popular keywords and keyword phrases, and participating in Google
AdSense, is a goldmine combination!
You
can research keywords and pay-per-click pricing through WordTracker,
Overture
or your Google
AdWords account.
If
you, as an owner of a content-loaded site, haven't found any affiliate
partners because you find it hard to research... why not use AdSense
as a brainstorming tool? AdSense is after all in general doing an
excellent job of finding the most appropriate ads.
Just
go to the AdSense
Lookup Tool... Type in the URL of a page where you would like
to feature ads for an affiliate program. The AdSense tool will show
5 different ads.
Just
visit those that are really on topic, evaluate their product/affiliate
program, sign up and begin featuring small text-based ads for those.
Let the ads sit there for some time and then evaluate the clicks-to-sales
ratio. If it doesn't convert well you could try switching over to
AdSense ads so you at least get paid for the clicks.
Cate,
of http://www.budget-and-prosper.com/
, gives us
her
insight on running a successful AdWords campaign:
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````
My
very FIRST campaign was earlier this year, and I had no clue what
I was doing. I put up some campaigns on products I liked, for affiliates
I liked, and lost about $50.
When
I saw the new book by Chris Carpenter, Google
Cash, I thought I'd give AdWords another try...
I needed
cash fast, and I was having a hard time getting my website finished.
Traffic was low and I knew it would be months before affiliate income
would be coming in.
The
first one was to capitalize on the popularity of the Seabiscuit
movie. Keyword research showed lots of searches on the name, with
very few AdWords. Bingo!
I chose
Amazon as my merchant and put up ads that did very well in terms
of CTR (clickthrough rate)...except the commissions were so low
on each sale I lost money. Not much, but there certainly weren't
profits to be made here.
MISTAKE
#1: CHOOSE A PRODUCT WITH HIGH ENOUGH PROFIT MARGINS.
To
avoid this mistake I went with Juno, a merchant from Commission
Junction. They have a great profit per sale. I found some great
alternative keywords for Juno and started running ads. Only problem
was, nobody was clicking. I even did ads for the keywords "cancel
AOL" and no one bit! To this day I don't know what I did wrong
there, but I pulled the ad because it was dragging down my total
account CTR, which must be at least 1% according to Google guidelines.
(It's a little more complex than that, but trust me, you need to
shoot for at least 1%).
A
third campain was for ESPN Magazine...they paid $15 per sale! And
I happen to be one of the 5 ot 6 females in all of North America
who actually like ESPN (just kidding) and sports, so I thought this
was definitely the campaign for me! Well, apparently most sports
fans already have the magazine, because I only made one sale. Lots
of clicks, though, which tells me the site didn't convert very well,
or my ad didn't target very well. On the other hand, how can you
NOT know that "ESPN Comes to your door/ESPN Magazine for $26/year
at $1/issue and free fleece" involves a subscription to ESPN
Magazine?!
A fourth
campaign was huge, and took me 2 days to put up. There were literally
over a thousand keywords for 39 ad groups to make it work. I had
lots of clicks and a couple sales...it was pretty much breaking
even. Then, I started getting notices from Google that my account
was well below the 1%. It definitely was! I realized I had used
WAY too many broad keywords when it came to setting up the ad campaigns.
In fact, I went with my SEO mentality of "more is better"
and put down just about every keyword I could think of, FORGETTING
that impressions is the other half of the equation when it comes
to calculating CTR rate!
So,
in a nutshell, my ad was being seen tons of times, but most of the
time it wasn't relevant. DUH, DUH, DUH. And I had read the Google
Cash book at least 3 times, missing this point.
I spent
nearly all day yesterday refining my keyword campaigns. Immediately,
my CTR went up to 2% and hovered there the rest of the day. Today
it's 2.3%.
USE
TARGETED KEYWORDS!!
As
for sales, I've made one since tweaking. I expect sales will increase
as this is a seasonal product and I'm coming in just before things
get busy. I expect it'll be hopping right through 'til March. Right
now, my conversion rate is a paltry 0.4%, so I'm figuring out a
way to work on that. I've had friends check my ad and they think
it's great...but I'll tweak anyway, and run an a/b split test. I
also think seasonality has a lot to do with it.
BTW,
all my campaigns had keywords at a $.05 minimum and a daily budget
of $5. The one and only campaign I have running now is a daily limit
of $15. I found clicks add up to less than this, and I have a significantly
greater number of clicks if I pony up more than the $5 per day.
I also
purchased AdWord
Analyzer software, and have been using it to help identify profitable
niches. After spending hours doing keyword research, the neat little
program that tells me exactly how many AdWord campaigns and Overture
campaigns there are for each keyword is worth its $67 price tag
in just time alone. Between that tool, SBI's Manager and Good Keywords
I think I'm covered.
Oh,
before I forget, I had some questions for Chris Carpenter of Google
Cash and he very promptly answered both my emails. He also has a
great newsletter you can subscribe to. I also recommend www.googuide.com
by Jeremy Wilson...I found some articles helpful.

How does Google AdSense affect Google AdWords users?
by
Cate, of http://www.budget-and-prosper.com/
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Be
careful with AdSense.
The
default for each campaign is to show your ad across "content
targeted" as well as "search" ("search"
being actual Google, "content targeted" being AdSense).
I got
into trouble early on because my ads were had thousands, if not
tens of thousands, of impressions across AdSense with very few clicks.
My overall account CTR dropped below 1% I was charged with a $5
fee after having to restore delivery (3 warnings and they charge
you...I thought my problem was keywords before I figured out it
was AdSense).
Disable
"content" in your campaign settings while you test. Then,
venture out ;)
Mike Merz, of Internet
Marketing for Newbies, gives us
Six Steps to using AdWords to generate Affiliate income:
``````````````````````````````````````````````
1)
Find an affiliate program you'd like to promote
(ideally
a high commission, 2 tier program)
2)
Build a related mini-site, with head content optimized with the
keywords you find using: keywords that the merchant themselves,
use ... keywords that the super affiliates are using ... keywords
that you find using various keyword programs. Be sure to include
plenty of related content ... possibly linked to an article or two
geared 100% on the subject matter... toss in a complementary free
bonus to subscribe to an update (building an ultra targeted list!).
3)
Use the keywords within your Adwords campaign, juggling them as
you see fit
(click through rate, cost comparison).
4)
Google will automatically spider the target URL, once you submit
the ad.
5)
Driving traffic to the URL (via Adwords campaign) will help increase
search engine ranking.
6)
Promote the URL to other search engines and directories, newsletters,
forums (sig. file), articles, etc.
