Already stumped

Postby laurie » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:34 am

Hi Lynn and all,

Well, I took Lynn's advice and joined Twitter, but I'm already stumped :(

When I go to my page (twitter.com/laurieneumann), I don't see a place to add new comments.

I also don't see a "follow" button under the image box that I see on others' pages.

Can you help??

Hi laurie

make sure you are logged in and then look for a "Home" button. Give it a click and see if it does the trick

:-)

Alex and Roy,

That time it worked! Thank you.

Roy - I have to get ready for a call at noon, could we do the crash course this afternoon?

Twitter is allot of fun.
I am getting news headlines, talking to twits that other wise would not be able to have contact.

Learn about new tools on the internet that work with twitter and other social media sites.

Very cool is Twitter.

I'm using a Twitter client called twhirl, which makes the tweets all pop up. I love it. http://www.twhirl.org/ Very cool.

Just getting started on Twitter myself. I found a site called TwitterFeed.com that I used to integrate into facebook. Pretty cool.

I'll check out the twhirl.org link Deb. Sounds interesting.

Twitter is...

Postby KimDushinski » Mon Jun 02, 2008 10:48 pm

Good question.

Twitter is a site that allows users to post an update (very much like Facebook's Status Update) in 140 characters or less. Everyone chooses a group of people whose updates they want to read - these are the people you Follow.

Other people, sometimes the same people you Follow and sometimes not, choose to Follow you (these are your Followers).

It turns out that posting little updates about your life and reading others is a great way to get to know people. Twitter is a terrific relationship building tool.

But, here's the deal...until someone tries Twitter they don't usually understand it. It is something you need to experience to understand.

My advice is to try it out.

I just join twitter. Still confuse how to use it.

Do you get traffic from twitter?

Hi Edysby,

You have to experiment a bit or you may just encounter a lot of meaningless chitchat.

Use the search field to find people with similar interests and then follow them and start communicating. Search using quotations for stuff like "small business", "copywriters", or whatever sort of group you'd like to be involved in.

I have found that twitter is interesting in the fact that there is lots of mindless chatter so that you do need to focus on who you are following. Of course, you want to get as many following you as possible and that is the trick.

Also, twitter seems to crash quite a bit. Anyone else had that problem?
