Anybody Making Money Domain Parking?

Postby Daniel Cassidy » Mon Jan 29, 2007 6:44 pm

I have just learned all about domain parking and how you can use it to generate income.

From what I have learned, you need to find domains with existing traffic or get "Type-In Traffic" (No Search Engines) to make money.

How easy is it to start making money doing this and how many dud domains do you have to buy before you pick a winner. Even if you don't make money parking the domain, somebody might be willing to pay you more then you picked it up for if they want it really bad.

Outside of reselling the domain names, how exactly do you make money by parking them? I assume you read something specific on the topic... I would be interested in hearing more.

From what I understand, you would buy domain names that are most likely to generate typed in traffic and monetize the parked page with ads. There is no SEO to worry about and supposedly you just sit back and collect the cash from PPC. The trick is in finding the names that attract typed in traffic and finding enough names to make a decent income.

Then after the parked domains prove to be money makers, they are sold at a premium price.

Now the registrars are monetizing the parked domains instead of just using a "Coming Soon" empty page.

I own a domain name that I was going to use for a retail business that I ultimately decided against. However the name is a currently popular phrase. So, I was looking to monetize the parked page. I looked at it yesterday after not having looked at it for a few months, and lo and behold, the registrar has already monetized it for themselves. It had previously been just a "Coming Soon" empty page.

I've used Sedo but never made a lot of money from the parked domains, i.e. clicks from the ads on my parked domain at Sedo. I've sold a couple domains since they also list it for sale but I've turned down more offers then I've accepted. A lot of bargain hunters. Try to develop it by adding content then you'll get more for the domain then if it's just parked. In my expierence Domain parking fees are like adsense... cents on a click that don't amount too much.

I have used sedo for a few years but i found that they paid pretty bad for a click. For a month now i am using www.domainacquire.com they use yahoo ads and generate about 5 times more then i earned with sedo.

Greetings

I agree with Webzu. Tried it with a few domains on Sedo and didn't really make anything. Possible I just didn't have the right type of names. I get better results putting small amount of content on a site and letting it age a bit until I have time to develop it more.
