Hi people,

I really love action / adventure kind of movies with a good storyline, supported by good actors & actresses ( e.g. X-Men 3, SWAT, The Sentinel )...also love romantic & suspense drama kind of movies as well.....and every now & then a good animated movie as well ( The Incredibles, Ice Age 2)..........

Some of my personal favorites include:

- The Exorcism of Emily Rose
- Butterfly Effect
- Mothman Prophecies
- Face Off
- Con-Air
- Love Affair
- What Dreams May Come
- Gone With the Wind
- Derailed
- Walk the Line
- Keeping the Faith
- Cold Mountain
- Mystic River

Speaking of which, I was thinking of signing up with NetFlix (my link) now that summer is almost over and I'll be indoors more. My mother and sister use it and love it - anyone else using NetFlix? Our local BlockBuster went out of business and left me high and dry on movies... and Netflix is still offering the 2 week trial & 9.99 plan. I'd love to hear what you think of it - and if you've been using it for awhile, which plan seems to work out best.

I tried a search for that one, but found several titles. Is it this one, just released this year:

A jolted West Coast deals with the deadly aftereffects of a massive tremor in this sequel to the disaster drama 10.5. Concerned that a widening fault line may set off two nuclear reactors, seismologist Samantha Hill (Kim Delaney) contacts the president (Beau Bridges). Assembling an expert rescue team, they search for the one man who can help them: Samantha's father (Frank Langella), a scientist who predicted this catastrophe. Dean Cain co-stars.

Here's a few of mine - few dramas in this list, I rely on *real life* for that stuff....

Spinal Tap
Walk The Line
Tommy Boy (that'll leave a mark...)
Groundhog Day (never tire of this one, Bill Murray is fantastic)
Lost In Translation
Wall Street
Somethings Gotta Give (Jack is back and steals the girl from Keanu!)
Who Killed The Electric Car (new favorite movie)
Dr. No (actually, any Connery Bond film)
The Dish (amazing Australian film - visited the film set last year in Oz)
Billy Elliot (go Billy!)
Die Hard (the first one is great, the sequels not so much)
Signs (liked it better than the Sixth Sense, call me crazy)
Gladiator (the diametrical example of a chick flick)
Life of Brian
Ocean's Eleven (the music is as good as the plot)

so many more, but it's a start...

Griffin, yup... that was hilarious. It was always funny the morning after he woke up. lol. :D

anyone else using NetFlix?

Lynn, Netflix isn't offered here in Canada, but I use a similar service (Zip). I've got a cousin in Florida who just loves Netflix like crazy though. If you find yourself renting 4 or more dvds a month, it's worth the service. The only problem is with the newer movies. You have to place them in your queue before they're even released. Netflix (and others) list them early on. This way, you get them as they're released. Also, a new restriction has been placed with Zip with regards to the total amount of dvds you can get in a month. If this is a concern, you might want to check if Netflix does the same. What I do like about these services is the variety in their selection.
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the tips, Mike! I'm signed up with the Netflix package that offers unlimited DVDs - which basically means as fast I can watch them and ship them back equals how many I can potentially get mailed to me in a month. I am expecting my first movie to show up today, so we'll see what the turnaround time is in my area.

One of the things I LOVE about Netflix (besides not having to leave the house, which is a HUGE plus lol) is that they offer such a large variety. Even the older movies that are my all time favorites that I can never find in local movie stores (like Somersby).

Their website is such a breeze to use - it was a genius idea!

Somersby rocks. I forgot that one. And yes, a large variety is key. It's nice to get those special interest dvds or documentaries once in a while.
Cheers,
Mike

LOL! My wife and I love all the Christopher Guest and company documentary parodies. Every Friday night is a battle between "Spinal Tap" and "Best In Show". "Best In Show" kinda freaks me out 'cause one of our Golden Retriever sits right in front of TV and watches the entire film.

I can't believe I left these two off my list! "About A Boy" is a movie we watch over and over - it's so good it hurts. Who ever thought up "SPAT" is just a genius and that whole schtick about "Ned" the imaginary two year old...I guess we'll be watchin' that tonight... :D
