I just joined Twitter a few days ago but, I am lost!!!!
I read the FAQ but, do not understand if the "@username" will get the response back to the original poster or is that only if they are following you?

Hi Sheryl,

Usually yes, but it depends on the individual users settings. Direct replies to their tweet will show up in their replies tab. But if you just put @username and type a tweet it will only show up if they have their settings set to see all @ replies in the replies tab. So the short answer is "usually" because most people do that
