The future of XHTML

Postby kanch33 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 9:31 am

Hi,

A friend of mine in Australia is learning to design and build websites, at a college. His teacher claims that XHTML will soon be outdated, a thing of the past, and that tools such as Dreamweaver, Flash etc. will be all that is needed.
Any thoughts on this ?
I did some research on Google but could only find old stories on this subject.
Thanks for the forum,

I'm going to assume this is a legit question ...

XHTML is the language that web sites are written IN. It's not going away. Dreamweaver, GoLive, and other tools are merely programs that write the XHTML for you.

XHTML going out of style, lol. no way.

All programs eventually output html, which can be ran as xhtml, htm, html, many formations.

I will add to this, and say 80+ % of the web's web pages, run some sort of XHTML in their
php, asp, jsp,u name it. Like, xml (rss feeds, hello).

Yeah, thats one wild claim. Would love to have been there in that class to see why that was said. AND educate (:)) them on web standards. :)

Steve and Chris already did a good job of explaining things, so I won't repeat what they said, I'll just nod my head in agreement an say hey, those are some pretty smart guys I'm hanging out with.
