Strange referring websites - why? How do they do it?

I check my stats and I see referring websites that make so sense and when I click on them they are usually foreign or in this morning's situation, pornographic.

How do these websites get on my referring website list on my stats and why??? Does it benefit them is some way?

I discovered that the link is definitely an affiliate link.. but how do they get it on my referring list???

When you have progamming skill it's easy to change the HttpReferer variable. And when I say "skill" I mean even my brother of 2 years old could do that...
