How do I hide email addresses from harvesters (spammers)?

It was my understanding that email harvesters get addresses from the mailto function in the page code. So I had placed my email address contact information just as text on my pages. Now someone tells me that bots take addresses from the text not the mail to.

So what's the real deal? Where would I find the advanced coding to create a form or function for contact information that will fool the harvesters?

Hi Sandra -- you can try using a form based contact submission forum. I use on a few of my websites. I've yet to receive SPAM from any of the email address I use behind the PHP forms
