It depends on what the link is. I like to keep people on my site if I can.
Sometimes I will create a frames page(I know, I know) that is invisible to the user, and opens the outside site in the frame on my site.
For instance: my cbmall site. I created a subdomain on my server and put up a frames page that puts my cmball affiliate page in the frame.
http://cbmall.cyberosis.net/
if you view source you will only see the index.html page is the frame set page.

hope this answers some of your questions,
feel free to ask more,

luck,
robert

Hey there Scott. Fishing is a great topic and you should be able to hook
lots of people on your site. HaHa.

I always use a blank target window for off site links. The way I look at it
is. If someone clicked the link they want to see what is there and they
will not block the pop up window. Unless they have an automated feature
that does it. I always get a prompt from Alexa as to whether I want to
see it or block it.

I never block it unless it is a pop up that arrives after I open the new
window. Even then I may be curious enough to view that pop up also.

I think if people click your off site link they will accept it and not block it.

Thanks James!!!!

My thinking is, by using the blank target value "target= _blank", then the user can quickly close that window to get back to my site without remembering where they are.

James, you have the magic lure for answering my question,

Thanks pal,

Scott
