I'm surprised that no one had mentioned NoteTab Pro. I use it and have been for several years. There is a free version, and a paid version. The Pro version (which I use) sells for $30 US. It's worth every penny and then some.
NoteTab is programmable, if you want to get into that. It also has little scripts that can be run from within it (called "clips"). Using these features you can accomplish just about anything you want with a file of text.
I frequently need to reorganize database files. I have files like:
field one|field two|field three|field four| etc., etc ....
Using NoteTab I can rearrange these fields so that field four is first, then field two ... or whatever order I wish.
I can take a list and remove all the duplicates or triplicates (etc). I can extract all the email addresses from a file (never for bad purposes of course

It's an amazing program. I was surprised it hadn't been mentioned in this thread.
