100,000 Gorillas found

Postby alexc » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:12 pm

So the first question you have to ask is who loses 100,000 gorillas? I mean they're big and hairy and pretty hard to misplace aren't they?

Ok, all jokes aside, it looks like a huge unknown "Gorilla Paradise" has been discovered in Northern Congo jungles and swamps, and it may be home to as many as 125,000 lowland gorillas, a species which was orignally thought to contain less than 100,000 members, and was expected to fall to as low as 50,000 by 2011.

It is amazing that with all of our satellites and cameras and mapping equipment we can still discover things like this on our planet.
