Maximise Adsense Revenue

Postby Shaffir » Sun Nov 12, 2006 9:10 pm

Hi all,

The best thing about adsense is that the revenue is a blasting factor for those who had made truck loads of cash but for amature how do we maximise our CTR rate?

It's all about the Traffic rather than good content's...

The amount of traffic, and the quality of that traffic, is definitely a huge factor in your Adsense revenue. But good content certainly has its place. You cant necessarily get quality traffic to click on anything if the content doesnt entice them to stay on the page long enough to get interested in the ads ;) .

Each site is different, so you are going to have to split test various options. Some sites experience a higher CTR when they blend the ads in seamlessly, while others have a higher CTR on Ads that contrast the content a bit.

Once you have consistent quality traffic to your pages, you can easily test different ad formats, layouts, color schemes, etc to see which perform best on *your* website.

You sort of have to play around with it and track it closely, because different sites can get totally different results. I have had great success with the Link Units for example, and others say they are terrible for them.

On a content page, its taught to put the Large Rectangle ad unit at the top left of the content area (aligning your text to the right of that box).
