The money is in the relationship

I completely agree with the conclusion of a post from earlier this month, that , not in the list.

This would naturally lead to the assumption that perhaps a list is not even necessary -- perhaps one can have a relationship with the people in one's RSS feed. Or one's facebook friends, or tweeps.

But what I would really like to discuss is this:

How does one go about developing a relationship with people who are on a list, reading an RSS feed or a friend on facebook?

What are your thoughts? What has worked for you?

I'd say:

Don't try and sell them something every time you email them.
Send them free useful items.
Be down-to-earth, discuss current affairs, events.
Discuss anything interesting/funny that may have happened to you.
Give some details about yourself.
and be yourself.

Hmm I read an article that talking sending a card to your prospect after the seminar. The purpose is get the prospect to remember you.

But I have another thought. I will send a thank you card to customer who bought my products or services. So that they will remember me better =.

From that on, a relationship is established.
