I usually post to both one or two directories as well as my blog and sometimes notes on Facebook as well. It gives me the maximum exposure without too much duplication.

I think you should post the content on your site first - great for search engine rankings and page rank - then after a few weeks get them out there to as many article directories as you can find.

For SEO reasons, I'd keep the article within my site or blog. Perhaps I would just submit teaser articles to some directories.

I would suggest doing a little of both. Have original content on your site. Then create additional articles to submit to the directories with a link back to your site in your author resource box.
