Honestly, I don't believe in luck.

I believe on setting goals and achieving them through hard work and dedication.

It's the risk that's the problem for most people.

Jump on the opportunity.

I've seen mentally "not all there" people make more money than most people because they knew what they could do when they set a goal, and work hard for it.

I've been self employed for 30 years, and so appreciate the value of a good attitude, and a pull ourselves up by our bootstraps mindset.

I've noticed that it's common to say attitude is everything in online business, and this is probably because it's true.

What we rarely see is any serious effort to teach the kind of attitudes that are necessary for self employment. If attitude is everything, why are cliches the main instruction technique?

I hope to respectfully debate the notion that luck does not exist.

Did we have anything to do with being born? Luck.

Did we have anything to do with our basic intelligence? Luck.

Did we have anything to do with our genetics, or the family we were born in to? Luck.

Did we choose to be born in to a free country, where we would be able to be self employed? Luck.

Did we personally invent the Internet marketplace? Luck.

Did we choose to be the kind of person who would have a get up and go attitude? Our invention, our decision? More luck.

Some of us, most of us, don't take full advantage of all the amazing luck we've been given. Working on that is, attitude.

This is a very interesting thread, indeed! Thanks for reviving it - I feel like we all just had coffee at Denny's or something - with one of those long, group discussions! (Even tho this thread is kinda old!)

Success, Luck or Attitude?

Postby silvrsentinel » Sat May 30, 2009 7:49 pm

I think its a bit of both, maybe 80% attitude 20% luck. I think you have to prepare yourself for when opportunities arise, so you definitely have to have the right attitude before a good opportunity comes your way.

Also patience, patience is a good ingredient to ensure you don't give up.

Also I think opportunities for success often arrive in disguise, so you definitely have to have the right attitude to recognize them as a potential goldmine as opposed to just to much hard work.

From my experience, the better your attitude the better you are at recognizing opportunities and the better your chances of success. If you don't have the right attitude it doesn't mean the opportunities for success are not there, rather you just can't recognize them.

Hello,

The key ingredient of success is hard work and right attitude, though some attain it through luck, but there are very few people who attain richness by luck you have to work to sustain it.
