I went to Catholic school for 8 years. I'll never forget our principal, Sister Angeline, coming into our classroom one day to cover for the lunch mother. Apparently one of the kids was disappointed with his lunch.
I'll never forget what she said, "If you don't hope for anything you won't ever be disappointed."
What an impression that made on me! I've now spent quite a bit of my adult life trying NOT to follow her advice.
Yes, you may not have disappointment, but on the other hand, you won't experience the sheer joy that comes with having your hopes fulfilled.
Stay strong and go one day at a time. I know of which I speak.
