How To Brainstorm Creative
New Ideas...

Brainstorming creative ideas is something I absolutely love, and one of the things I'm best at. Whether its a cool domain name, a creative marketing strategy or a product idea... that's just the kind of thing I dig.

In my free time I browse forums across the 'net and answer as many questions as I can. Call it a "hobby" if you will.

Yesterday someone asked me "How do you brainstorm?"

I have to be honest with you. The answer didnt come easy. In fact, I was stumped as to how to answer that question.

I know what works for me, but I also realize that we all do things differently - so it's not a "one answer fits all" type of thing.

That said, there are some standards for brainstorming that work across the board - no matter what your style. One is Quantity, Not Quality. Brainstorming is about free-thinking and spinning out potential ideas. So write down ALL options and let things snowball a bit. Don't over-think ANYthing during the brainstorming phase.

The second is outside inspiration. Most great ideas arent just hiding somewhere in the back of your mind. They are ignited by a tiny spark of information or inspiration that comes from a conversation, a tv commercial, something you read, etc. In other words, there is usually a "trigger".

Some of my best brainstorming has been done with close friends or business peers. I have several people that I brainstorm with on a regular basis, and the ideas that come out of those talks are nothing short of amazing! Sometimes it just helps to have a fresh perspective and a fresh set of eyes on an idea.

I can be that person for you, if you have ideas you need to bounce off of someone, or you need a fresh perspective on an idea or project you are working on.

Check this out, it's called "The Brainstorming Thread"

I can't consult one-on-one. I'm not for hire anymore, and I prefer to keep it that way. However, if you would prefer a more private brainstorming session (something that is not open to the public), please see:

http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com/elite-members.htm

That will give you access to the Private Forum, which only Elite Members can see - even search engines cant crawl it!

Either way, let me know what you're working on and let's see if I can bring some new ideas to the table for you. Chances are I'll have some great ideas for you to consider ;)

Here's that link to the Brainstorming Thread again, and it's free to join in:
